Meet Our Swim Staff
Aquatics Director, Swim Instructor & Trainer, Lifeguard Instructor, Scuba Diver
Melissa has been in aquatics for 15 years, and loves to see students of all ages achieve success in swimming. Mel is great at getting students to overcome fears in the water, helping them to achieve personal goals. She also runs our Scuba Rangers program, a diving club for kids 8-12 years. She rounds out her position here as a Lifeguard Instructor for the American Red Cross. Originally from Colorado (and a year in Florida working in DisneyWorld), Melissa lives here with her husband Andrew (who is our lead Scuba Rangers Instructor) and little boy.

Nadia has years worth of aquatic experience, and has been with us at OWA for nearly a year. She works during the day as an accountant for the Charlotte Bobcats, but enjoys coming to the swim school in the evenings for her ‘fun job.’ Nadia was a competitive swimmer from a very young age, all the way through college, and loves to help others develop the same love of the water that she has. She lives close by and is a mom of two.

Maureen is a wonderful part of our team at OWA Swim School! Her previous experience in swim team, as an avid scuba diver, and a lover of aquatics in general makes her a great teacher. She is very caring with our youngest of swimmers, and can also help our older students and adults learn confidence, safety, and techniques. Her fun personality is partly due to her past experience working at Walt Disney World, and now works close by at a prominent hotel as an events coordinator. She lives in Belmont with a friend and is near to family here in Charlotte.

Katy attends college in South Carolina, and spends her summers here at home in Charlotte. Her swimming skills are excellent, having been on a swim team since she was 7 and on through today. Besides teaching swim lessons, she is also a lifeguard for the summer. Katy is great with our little ones, but can also work on specific techniques and skills with our older students. She lives in Concord with her family.
