Master All Four Strokes
Three Advanced Levels round out on the initial freestyle and backstroke techniques taught in Intermediate and introduce the most challenging swim skills and strokes all while continuing to build speed and endurance.
Key Skills Covered:
- Breaststroke
- Learn the whip kick
- Build confidence with proper stroke cadence
- Master underwater streamline technique
- Butterfly Stroke
- Learn the dolphin kick
- Develop a comfortable butterfly rhythm
- Strength training drills to master this stroke
- New Skills this Level:

- Swim Team Prep and Drills

- Lane sharing
- Shallow Dives
- Age Range
- Typically at least 8 years old and promoted from Intermediate 2 level or completed an in water skills evaluation
- Occasionally students aged 6-7 who started swimming early and have been consistently in lessons will progress to this level
Class Levels:
Advanced 1
Focuses on introducing the new gross motor skills for breaststroke - whip kick and dual arm pull with rhythmic breathing. Minor technique adjustments and building speed in freestyle and backstroke.

- Prerequisites for this Level:
- Swim 100 yards (3 Laps Down and Back) continuous freestyle with bilateral side breathing
- Swim 60 yards (2 Laps Down and Back continuous competitive style backstroke
- Tread water at least 1 minute using multiple styles of kicks
- Underwater streamlines with good technique
- Standing dives with good technique
- Skill Accomplishments upon Completion of this level:
- Ready to promote to Advanced 2
- Swim 2-3 laps breaststroke with good kick and pull technique, developing breathing rhythm
- Swim multiple laps of all other strokes with excellent technique and rhythm
- Building technique for starts and turns
- Streamline starts off the wall
- Mastered technique for standing dives
- Good knowledge of swimming terms and skills
- Building endurance for treading water using multiple kicks for longer times
Advanced 2
Focuses on introducing the new gross motor skills for butterfly stroke - dolphin kick and dual arm pull with rhythmic breathing. Perfecting freestyle and backstroke as well as dives and turns.

- Prerequisites for this Level:
- Swim 100 yards (3 Laps Down and Back) continuous freestyle with bilateral side breathing
- Swim 60 yards (2 Laps Down and Back) continuous competitive style backstroke
- Swim 60 yards (2 Laps Down and Back) breaststroke with good technique
- Tread water at least 1 minute using multiple styles of kicks
- Underwater streamlines with good technique
- Mastered standing dives
- Skill Accomplishments upon Completion of this level:
- Ready to promote to Skills and Drills or join various aquatic sports and activities
- Perfected technique for freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke
- Developing technique and rhythm for butterfly stroke, mastered kick and pull separately
- Tread water for 2 minutes using more than 1 kick style
- Perfected technique for underwater streamlines
- Perfected multiple types of dives
- Good knowledge of swimming terms and skills
Skills & Drills
Focuses on final technique adjustments for smooth swimming in all 4 strokes. Introduction of skills unique to competition sports and unique water activities.
- Prerequisites for this Level:
- Invite Only at the Instructor's Discretion
- Swim Multiple Laps of All four strokes with excellent technique
- Plenty of endurance for back to back skills sets
- Good technique for dives, underwaters, treading, and turns
- Skill Accomplishments upon Completion of this level:
- Excellent knowledge of multiple types of drills commonly used to perfect technique and build endurance at swim team practices
- Increased endurance underwater
- New skills include side stroke, advanced turns, relays, medleys and more
