Welcome to the Open Water Adventures Swim School

We would like to introduce our professional aquatics staff to you. Our staff is comprised of full time aquatic instructors with many years of teaching students of all ages. Our proven results based methods have made swimmers out of many people who had previously not progressed at other facilities. We are very proud of the pace at which our students learn and the rewards we all enjoy as a result of their progress. Our facility is a private training center. We are able to control the learning environment, this allows for distraction free focused sessions with your instructor. Melissa Shearer
Aquatics Director / Instructor

Melissa has been teaching for nearly 10 years, and gets her fulfillment out of teaching by seeing the joy in kids and adults when they accomplish their swimming goals. Melissa lives is Harrisburg with her husband Andrew and cat Frodo.

Kim Conroy
Swim Instructor

Kim is currently an aquatics director at a local YMCA full time. Kim has been an instructor for 8 years. She notes that thru teaching kids, they usually manage to teach her something in return, resulting in constant growth and change. Raised in Colombus, Ohio, Kim now lives with her new husband Ross and their dog Sampson, in Charlotte.

Stephanie Spencer
Swim Instructor

Stephanie has been an instructor for 7 years because she truly enjoys working with children. She thrives on teaching technique - especially for the older kids. She is originally from Greensboro, NC. She currently lives in south Charlotte with her best friend and two cats Tiger Lilly and Vada.
