Sharks and Manta Rays Need our Help!
Shark Savers recently sent out an update on legislation to ban Shark Finning and the needless killing of Manta Rays. Some of the news is good. Legislation in atleast three states has been passed to make the sale or posession of Shark Fins Illegal. This is great news, however the majority of the problem lies outside the US. We need the rest of the World to get on board, and that is a huge challenge. I want to give credit to the organizations that are fighting to stop the horrific practices that are leading to the demise of some of the Planets most important marine life.
Shark Savers, the Ocean Conservancy, and many others are doing everything they can to make change. They need the support of every citizen to create the overwhelming momentum it requires to get lawmakers to listen. The simple act of signing a petition can make a real difference.
Sharks are not the only ones that are in jeopardy, so are Manta Rays. These are majestic animals that every diver dreams of swimming with, and anyone who has had the experience can tell you that it is truly amazing. Extinctions are occuring around the globe due to climate change. Alot of that is attributed to cycles on the planet that we may not be able to change. However, human behavior is something we can alter. Education is an important part of the process. You need to get involved and educate yourself, so you can share knowledge with others.
Please visit these organizations on the web. Learn everything you can. Do all you can. Inspire others to do the same.
Protect what you love,
Joe Gaydeski
